Sowohl Chris Cunningham als auch Aphex Twin zählen zu meinen All-Time-Favourites, aber das Rubber Johnny-Video ist ja dann wohl doch nichts anderes als pure Verarsche - ich zitiere einfach mal eine Amazon-Rezension:

Ist schon die DVD "The Work of Chris Cunningham" nicht sonderlich gut ausgestattet und für 25 Euro fast etwas überteuert, so kann man von "Rubber Johnny" wohl nur noch abzuraten. Auf der DVD befindet sich ausschließlich ein knapp sechs minütiges Musikvideo (sechs Minuten inkl. Abspann), ansonsten gar nichts. Keine Hintergrundinformationen, kein Making Of, nichts. Verstehen wir uns nicht falsch: das Musikvideo ist großartig und richtige Cunningham Fans müssen die DVD wohl darum auch in ihrem Schrank stehen haben, alle anderen sind allerdings mit der "The Work of Chris Cunningham" deutlich besser beraten. Immerhin steckt die "Rubber Johnny"-DVD in einem kleinen vierzigseitigen Bildband. Doch außer einigen fotorealistischen Abbildungen, die sicher nicht in Kinderhände gehören, und einigen comicartigen Zeichnungen, die leider noch dazu allesamt unkommentiert sind, findet sich darin nichts weiter. "Rubber Johnny" ist eine Veröffentlichung, die ihren Preis schlicht und ergreifend nicht wert ist und das ist sehr schade, denn das Musikvideo macht Lust auf mehr. Auf viel mehr.

Bei Filmjournalisten ist das ja so: Wenn man Menschen dazu zwingt, die Hälfte ihres Lebens im Dunkeln zu verbringen, werden sie naturgemäß wunderlich. Sie tragen dann weite Umhänge, reden leise und werden hysterisch, wenn man sie im Sommer davon abhält, den noch fehlenden Film eines Südkoreanischen Off-Off-Regisseurs zu sehen.
