Zugegeben - hab Jason Lewis (von Sex in the City) soweit ich mich erinnere noch in keinem Film gesehen, aber zumindest für das Weichei Prince Adam a.k.a. He-Man scheint er das ideale Babyface zu haben. The Rock, wäre IMHO sowieso eine ziemliche Fehlbesetzung gewesen...

Emi and Yumi Ito jumped from Japanese cha-cha sweethearts to international b-movie icons when they portrayed the melancholy captured fairies who chanted "Mo-su-rah" in Toho's classic 'Mothra'. Though they appeared in only three of the Toho monster epics, they made such an impression, that their screen roles overpower that of the monsters themselves!! This is their very first vinyl offering from 1959, including classics like 'Quizas' ('Perhaps')

The Catamaran Serenaders - Tempos Of Tahiti

This is a great LP, combining Hawaiian favorites with a goofy steel guitar. Even though the album title is Tempos Of Tahiti, most of the tracks on here are Hawaiian standards like Little Brown Gal, Hawaiian War Chant, and Aloha Oe. But the reason I really love this LP is the unusual sense of humor you can hear in the steel guitar. The guitarist is skilled enough to put a real sense of whimsy in here, which matches the arrangements just right. Instead of going for another collection of standards played straight, the musicians are obviously having fun. The reference to Tahiti is probably explained by the presence of two themes from the Brando flick Mutiny On The Bounty, which are also done very nicely here. As a bonus (probably temporary), I've made some links that point to downloads for the whole LP...

"Compact Discoveries" bloggt erst sein ein paar Tagen - nichtsdestotrotz hat er schon eine kleine Sammlung von seltenen Underground-CDs zusammengestellt. Aufgefallen ist mir vor allem "Equinox - Just A Little Thing..."

Bizarre artwork on this 18-minute EP of two hippie chicks with a guitar. Burnt on a printed CD-R, apparently #60 of a run of 100. Actually suprisingly good, with some pretty harmonies and lyrics. Swimming in the Dark is rather cute. It's Black feels rushed, and When A Woman Says NO stumbles on its preachy chorus, but overall it's a nice Alanisesque coffee-house listen. Another interesting find. I wonder what happened to these girls.

 

Auch der "20 Jazz Funk Greats MP3 Blog Brighton" bietet ein paar strange MP3s an - unter anderem "We Buried Indie Rock Years Ago" von Zea. Ein cooler Indie-Rock Track der mit ein paar Lo-Fi GameBoy-Sounds angereichert wurde. Download-Tipp!!

 

Der Herr Dozer bietet in seinem MP3 Blog einige elektronische Schmankerl an - vor allem expirementielle 8bit-Tracks mit denen wohl nicht jeder etwas anfangen kann. Zum Einstieg hier mal ein Klassiker vom guaten Herrn Aphex Twin:

Bei "Said the Gramophone - a weblog about music" bin ich unter anderem auf diesen seeehr geilen Track gestossen - unbedingt reinhören:
